We used the seventh and eighth grade studio and media classes as the host classes. Perhaps it is not surprising then, that it has been demonstrated across the country that juveniles whose cases are heard in Teen Court often have a lower recidivism rate than youths who go through the formal court system. Each teen offender will pay a court cost. Local law enforcement plays a vital role in Teen Court by providing mentoring, structure and judicial knowledge to procedures and classes. Class for up to 15 6pm — 7pm. Be a 7th — 12th grade student in satisfactory academic standing, and not currently under the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. It is usually held on a Thursday or Friday. The purpose and intent of the program is to involve young people in taking responsibility for their actions, and to give the community an active role in dealing with juvenile offenders in the hopes of reducing recidivism rates of youth in the county.
